Good hair day
posted 7/21/2010 2:13:17 PMHeidi Thomson, a member at Savannah (GA) Christian Church, helped organize a day of free food—and free haircuts—for the homeless of the city this past Sunday.
Local ministry “People Helping People” recruited hair stylists, who volunteered their time and donated 150 backpacks filled with shampoo and other supplies. A sermon and lunch kicked off the afternoon.
“A lot of [these people] just can’t afford to put a roof over their head and food on the table,” Thomson said in a Savannah Morning News article. “They want someone to know their name…..A haircut can really do great things for somebody’s self-esteem.”
