Going the extra miles

Bob Ewing, executive pastor at First Christian Church (Huntington Beach, CA), celebrated his 60th birthday this past Saturday by walking 60 miles.

Ewing completed the rigorous walk (five miles at a time, around the FCC property) to raise money for the Institute for Families in honor of his 13-year-old friend Jake Olson who suffers from eye cancer. Friends, including the Institute's president, walked with him for 45 of the 60 miles, and Ewing raised $6,000 for the cause!

"When I was 20, 60 was old," Ewing said in an Orange County Register article. "Now that I'm 60, it's not as old as I thought it was."
